Over the last few years, the Fangshan district has converted areas previously dedicated to industry to producing wines.
Twenty-five wine estates complying with extremely strict production specifications have already emerged on formerly uncultivated fields and arid expanses of land. Fangshan has made it compulsory for producers to grow organic grapes, restrict yields to 7,500 kg/ha and only ferment wines from locally grown grapes. An entire range of wine tourism activities is being developed on the outskirts of Beijing. On Qinglong Lake, construction of an international wine city is due to break ground shortly. The place will become an important tourist destination in Beijing.
The Forum-tasting event will take place in this scenic setting.
